Diwali/Divali or Deepavali is known as the "festival of lights" and celebrated by Hindus. I have never been a part of the celebration before but this year we were lucky to be involved in it at Geckos.
Some mothers kindly put this wonderfully colourful celebration together.
The room was decorated beautifully and some special craft activities were organised for the children. There were two stations, one to make and colour in your own Diwali card and the other was paint clay tea light candle holders.
At the morning tea time everyone had some authentic Indian food - some of it was extra spicy!
The children also tried some popadoms and samosas.
Oliver loved the popadoms - some of the seeds were a bit spicy but he kept eating them.
It was such a great way to learn about another culture. The last few Fridays have been very festive, I wonder what this week will bring to Geckos : )
