Our Christmas tree is put away

I love Christmas time when I can decorate our house with Christmas trees and lights. In Japan we decorate our house with lots and lots of window lights so that the whole house is lit up nicely during Christmas. Here in Brunei I concentrated on decorating inside the house. We had a good festive feeling thought out December. Today it was time to put them all away for New Year. Before doing so I thought I would take photos of Oliver in front of the tree with his Christmas presents. He was very proud of what he got!

Our tree and happy Oliver

All mine!

He loves the present you gave him Caroline and Richard, he is chewing on it all the time. (I am not sure its the purpose of the ornament you gave him) And we love ours thank you very much, we are so looking forward to claim the winery tour voucher next month!
Thank you Kylie for sending him the bumbo table. He can put his toys on the tray now.

Oliver is growing

We try to check Oliver's weight and height every month.
Today we took him to our local clinic.
He was very calm while we were checking him.

Daddy is checking Oliver's height (He is now 66cm long!!)

Every cm is a 100gs!

It's time to get running!

While Matthew is getting fit biking with his mates, I decided to get fit by running.
I have been running women's hash with my neighbor Boel and Nicole on Tuesday nights when possible since November. (I tried twice before I was pregnant with Oliver now I'm back!)
Running in jungle with friends are fun but I thought I need something to train myself for.

So I searched on the internet while Matthew was out flying the other day and found this wonderful event.

I am still training for 5km so not sure if I can do 10km by the end of March but Matthew will be running 10km. We are looking forward to do our check run when we visit Auckland next month and hoping to drive around other run locations to see if we want to come back for more running later in the year!

Anyone wants to join us!?
Caroline? Richard?

Biking is great!!

Matthew turned 30 in August this year but as we were in Japan at that time and we have been busy looking after our little boy I hadn't bought him a proper 30th birthday present.
By the time I stopped thinking about it, it was already Christmas time to choose another present for him.

Our neighbor Nathan (who is Boel's husband from Taupo NZ) has been talking about road biking to Matthew and encouraging him to buy one. Matthew was quite interested in but worried about the cost of the bike etc.

So Misuzu made a decision and off we went to the only shop in Brunei where we can buy proper bikes. Matthew was not sure if he would like biking since he hasn't done any before but I was determined that it will be good for him as he can exercise anytime he wants and gets to ride with other groups of people.

This is it!

Since he got his bike he has done some rides with his biking mates. On Sunday last week he participated in Universal Access and Human Rights World Aids day 2009 HIV Awareness tour.
They biked 50ks from 6:30am! (as it gets pretty hot here in Brunei)

When he got home I was surprised to see another brand new bike for me that Matthew won at the event!!! Now we can bike together!! (I think he needs to participate another one to win a little bike for Oliver)

Boel put a posting in her blog about this:

I promise I will get some photos of Matthew riding his bike soon!

My first attempt

Since I stopped working Oct 2007 I have been looking for things to do to fill in my time. Today I finally decided to Blog to update everyone with our life in Brunei.
I have a wonderful neighbor Boel, who encouraged me to start up this blog (you will find her in my future blog for sure!)

Today was Oliver's 7months birthday and I kept up our monthly photo taking session of Oliver with his golliwog.
You can see how much he has grown!

I know everyone is waiting to see how Oliver spent his first Christmas here in Brunei. Instead of me trying to create more postings, here is a link to Boel's blog where you can view her wonderful photos of us!
