Gong

Very loud gongs from the Temple woke me up the other day. It went at 7am 20 times and each one lasted for more than 15 seconds !! Japan is approching its Obon week (Buddhist custom to honour the departed / deceased spirits of one's ancestors). People are busy visiting their ancestors tombs.

Later on the day the gong went again so I went to see what's happening from our balcony. My family is not religious at all so we don't have any special arrangements for the coming week, but nice to feel it's that time of the year somehow.
I am very happy we have something Japanesy across the road.
