Spitting

Ok, please someone tell us how you teach your child to spit after brushing his teeth, instead of drinking a full cup of water.
We tried to explain to him (of course this didn't work), we tried using Elmo (the soft toy) as a model, Matthew showed him how to do it several times, but... he is just giggling and drinking the cup of water...

    Try showing him in the bath, and make it a game to spit after brushing his teeth.

    Only one of ours can spit - Devon. The others swallow the toothpaste and then spit. Haven't managed to find a way to get them to spit like their youngest brother. However Devon does use his spitting skills to spit AT his brothers, not just after brushing his teeth, so it is one of those skills that has it's disadvantages!
