Just like his brother
Nothing can stop Luca from walking and running right now. He is determined to be on his feet all the time! I took the boys out as usual in the evening to play with their friends. He was doing so well chasing a big ball until he somehow got on the ball and fell forward with it :(
Oooops big scratch on his nose:

He must have known that was his big brother's first scratch too.
Here is Oliver - 1 year and 4 months:

As you know Oliver didn't stop with this and kept cutting himself open... I hope Luca won't copy that PLEASE!!

Mr cook
Luca is into cooking recently. He wanders into the kitchen and gets his utensils. It occupies him for a good while and gives me some time to rest :)

The other day Runa got more creative than me and got some paper and tissues for Luca. Made him very very happy!

Wonderful to have a full time babysitter :)

Cooling down
It has been such a hot summer here in Japan. We are lucky we have a good size bathroom where the boys can bath twice a day!! Luca especially loves playing with water and it keeps him entertained for ages.
When both boys get excited I have to separate them into different stations to avoid high pitched screaming and tears...

Nepal lunch
Mum took us for a nice Nepali curry house for lunch. Mako took us there the other day and all of us are now addicted!
They have 5 degrees of spicy level so kids can have a very sweet curry and us parents can enjoy spicy ones. They even have a kiddy set which Oliver and Luca shared.
Butter Chicken and beautiful Nan bread:

I am pretty sure we will be going back there again before we head back to Singapore!

Daddy is back
This is Matthew's 3rd visit of the month (he has one more KIX at the end of the month). The boys have been enjoying getting on the train to rescue (this is what Oliver says) daddy.
Luca didn't know what to do, seeing all that space at the airport to walk/run around waving to everyone he sees :)
My gorgeous boy - looks like he just arrived from the farm?!

Rescue mission completed! We got daddy!!

This time he gets an extra day off between flights - Yeah!!

Rice field
It was such a beautiful morning the other day. So we took all the little ones for a walk. We decided to walk to Rua's nursery by taking some of the little streets we haven't used before.
It turned out we left the house at the hottest time of the morning :( But that didn't stop Yuzuki and Oliver exploring the new neighborhood.
Checking out the rice field for some frogs:

Such a pretty view:

Escaping from the strong sunshine:

We were wandering around for almost 1 hour or so but in the end we got lost and didn't make it to the nursery. Well, we now know lots of little streets we never knew existed!

Going to work
Oliver was packing his little Toy Story bag to go to work the other day. He takes this business very seriously and selects which toys he wants to take along.
This is what he told me when he finished packing. "Mummy I'm ready to go to work but I cannot fly an airplane yet"
Made his daddy smile a lot :)

Pool, Rides and Zoo!!!
When our grandma was living in Wakayama we didn't need to think about where to go during our summer holidays. We always stayed at her place and played in the river or at the beach or enjoyed forest walks. Now that she no longer lives there we had to think of what to do. It is very rare to have everyone off together in Japan, we normally make an effort to do something together as a family.
Even Matthew managed to join us using his days off for the month :)
Our first plan was to go to the beach by grandma's old place even though she is no longer living there but the typhoon was approaching and the sea got rougher so we had to give up on that idea.
Instead we took all the kids to our local amusement park - Misaki Park. This park is quite old, when we were kids our parents took us there every now and then. Even though it is not as popular as it used to be it is still going strong attracting wee ones like ours.
Rui (12), Hinata (11), and Oliver (3):

Runa (11) and Yuzuki (6):

Oliver was so so so excited!!

Unfortunately it was a cloudy day with some wind but that didn't stop the kids jumping into the pool. The bigger kids took off to queue up for the big slides and little ones stayed near a paddle pool.

Oliver was very impressed with a similar setting to the one in the Singapore zoo.

As you can easily guess it took forever to get him out of the water...

It got too cold for everyone when the wind got stronger, so we all got changed and moved to the rides.
Oliver didn't really know what he was into but he insisted to go on the big boys ride.
Matthew told me he was giggling all the way, making lots of happy noise!

He also enjoyed the little boys ride too :)

By this time our boys were getting very tired but I couldn't miss the dolphin show I used to love when I was a kid. The waiting was rather long and boys were getting scratchy :( Luckily once the dolphins started to jump around and splash people with their big fins the boys didn't have a chance to fall asleep.

Luca is always into animals!

Oliver was so impressed dolphins and humans can swim and jump around together:

A little bit concerned...

The climax:

This exciting show woke them up completely and gave them some more energy to see the rest of the zoo!

Japanese monkeys were so cute!

Catch up with an old workmate
Jin and I worked together for 7 years or so ago before I left Japan for Brunei. We drove around lots of places visiting all the different golf courses for business most of the time. Matthew and Jin get along very well too and our great friendship has continued until today.
The last time we saw Jin and Tomo was when they were waiting for their first baby which was 3 years ago.
This time we managed to organise a family catchup. I chose this playground my sister took me once. It is in a very quiet mall and not many kids normally so I thought a perfect place for a long needed catchup!
Jin and Tomo now have two boys like us, Takumi is 3 and Kou is almost 1. Oliver and Luca were both excited to see their new little friends.
We had the whole place to ourselves!

They loved being on this train - daddies had a hard time pulling them around tho :)

Always a hit - ball pool!

Luca was going very strong!

Oliver tried baseball:

After a good play we had some lunch together. It went better than I thought considering 4 toddlers all being boys!
Jin and Tomo:

Matthew and Kou:

One last ride together - Takumi and Oliver:

It was a pity as the boys finally got comfortable with each other but we had to go... I hope our next catch up will be much earlier than 3 years. Thank you Otsubo family for driving so far to see us. We had such a great time!!
